Launching ceremony of the Student Football Tournament – UEH League

On the morning of April 2, 2024, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) successfully organized the launching ceremony of the first student football tournament “UEH League”.

The program was attended by Prof.Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao – Deputy Director of UEH; Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thi – Head of Business Development Department of Binh Minh Group; Assistant Coach (Coach) Dinh Hong Vinh – Director of BMG Academy; Assistant Coach Hoang Hung and players of Ho Chi Minh City Football Club, along with members of 10 teams in UEH League 2024 and nearly 300 UEH students.

On the side of sponsors the UEH League Football Tournament, there are Mr. Le Dang Khoa – Director of SME Business Division, Orient Commercial Joint Stock Bank (OCB); Mr. Nguyen Thanh Truc – Deputy Head of Training & Human Resource Development Department, Hoa Sen Group and Mr. Phan Xuan Tuan – Director of SC Network Entertainment Media Joint Stock Company.

Opening the event, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao – Deputy Director of UEH – remarked: “On the development journey of nearly 50 years, with the position of a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University in Vietnam, UEH sets the goal to training the career foundation knowledge and life understanding for future generations, and towards comprehensive and sustainable development for each learner. The birth of the Student Football Tournament “UEH League” is one of the typical examples of the University’s comprehensive training efforts. UEH League is not only a place to exercise, where players score goals but also an opportunity to prove their bravery, overcome their limits, and devote themselves to team spirit, thereby, spreading the strong will and efforts to reach great goals for future generations.”

Representing the sponsors, Mr. Le Dang Khoa – Director of SME Business Division of Orient Commercial Joint Stock Bank (OCB) – stated: “In terms of the core values and vision of Orient Commercial Joint Stock Bank and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, there are many similarities. In the future, I believe that UEH and OCB will cooperate to develop more areas, especially in human resource development and young people training for society. Appreciating UEH’s comprehensive training perspective, combining knowledge and sports, coach Dinh Hong Vinh – Director of BMG Academy presented the topic “The importance of general learning and sports practice”. He provided reasons and arguments regarding the necessity and the importance of practicing sports as well as the benefits of playing soccer. Soccer helps develop thinking and skills, build a spirit of solidarity and leadership, balance between study and entertainment, and form qualities and a sense of responsibility. Through the sharing of coach Dinh Hong Vinh, it is hoped that young people will actively participate in sports activities and become more confident, with creative thinking and a sense of responsibility, ready to face challenges in life and career.

In addition, within the framework of the event, UEH players and students had the opportunity to exchange and share with assistant coach Hoang Hung and players of Ho Chi Minh City Club about football, and at the same time, observe the players demonstrating their techniques.

The football tournament UEH League takes place from March – September 2024 with 10 teams participating in 49 matches at the football field of UEH – Nguyen Van Linh campus sports area, Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City.

From April 7 – May 12, 2024 and August 11 – September 22, 2024, 5 matches take place every Sunday. The Finals and Awards take place on September 22, 2024 with the following prizes:

– Collective prize: First Prize (30,000,000 VND), Second Prize (20,000,000 VND), Third Prize (10,000,000 VND).

– Additional prizes: Top scorer (4,000,000 VND), Best goalkeeper (3,000,000 VND), Best athlete (3,000,000 VND), Consolation prize (5,000,000 VND), Style prize (4,000,000 VND), Best Cheerleading Team (5,000,000 VND).
