UEH Vinh Long Campus – Member of the Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University

On December 4, 2019, the campus of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City in Vinh Long province (UEH – Vinh Long Campus) was officially established, expanding the UEH brand in the Mekong Delta region. After 4 years of operation, UEH – Vinh Long Campus has gained impressive achievements and contributed to the overall development of the Multidisciplinary and Sustainable UEH University strategy.

After 4 years of operation, UEH – Vinh Long Campus has gained impressive achievements and contributed to the overall development of the Multidisciplinary and Sustainable UEH University strategy.

Affirming the quality of UEH training in the Mekong Delta

UEH Vinh Long Campus has been implementing the mission of providing high-quality human resources at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and intensive short-term training courses, and carrying out research and technology transfer, contributing to the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta.

Through 4 years of operation from 2020 – 2023, UEH-VLC has implemented many programs in the fields of economics, business, management, law and technology. From 06 training programs when established, up to now 15 programs have been implemented in many fields.

To the present, UEH-VLC has reached a total number of nearly 2,200 students at all levels and modes. Of which are 1,300 full-time undergradute students, nearly 600 graduate students, 300 VLC students and over 8,000 learners studying short-term courses every year, meeting the needs of training and fostering the qualifications of learners in the area.

Implementing UEH international standard educational orientation, recently, UEH-VLC has always strived to bring a modern and vibrant learning environment for students. Typical examples include:

Campus rotation program at Ho Chi Minh City campus

The first admission course at Vinh Long Campus (K46-DHCQ) has implemented a campus rotation program, studying at the main campus in Ho Chi Minh City since January 2023. The program creates opportunities for students to practice skills, change the learning environment, increase social interaction, practice adaptability and develop skills, thereby expanding their career development opportunities after graduation.

Summer Camp student exchange program

In 2023, for the first time, UEH cooperates with universities in the economics sector to organize the student exchange program “Summer Camp” for Vietnamese and international students. Students have had more interesting experiences with many activities of learning, researching, practicing skills, learning about cultural characteristics, and diverse regional characteristics to perfect themselves, easily integrate with the surrounding environment, quickly respond to employers’ demands and be ready to become a global citizen.

Student exchange program for Institutions of Economics “UEH Mekong Summer Camp 2023”

Remarkably, at “Summer Camp 2023”, the UEH Biztech Hackathon program searching for solutions to apply new technology to solve life’s problems encourages students to bring their acquired knowledge into practice. This is an opportunity for students to experience a creative and inspirational presentation, as well as an opportunity for them to grasp the latest solutions, promoting the development of Vietnamese agriculture, in 28 hours of real time combating with many training activities.

Exchange program with international students

International student exchange activities at the Campus are UEH’s annual activities in international cooperation. It is a useful playground to practice skills, apply knowledge into practice, and change the learning environment to increase social interaction, train adaptability and develop skills for students, thereby contributing to enhancing the spirit of solidarity and friendship between Vietnamese and international students. Recently, international exchange activities have been organized by the campus with partner universities including Tokyo Keizai School (Japan), Khong Kaen (Thailand), Ngee Ann Polytechnic (Singapore), Western University Washington (USA).

Diverse Union and Association activities

Youth Union – Student Association of Vinh Long Campus, with the role of youth initiative, has organized many activities, many programs and many clubs among students. To date, there have been 11 clubs established for students to participate in studying and practicing according to their interests, including: 5 fine arts clubs, 6 academic clubs and 01 club related to social activities.

UEH Global Community project – Community responsibility and sharing with learners for the development of the Mekong Delta

Carrying out the responsibilities of a public university in Vietnam, UEH always aims to share knowledge and innovate for the community. Among them, a typical example is the UEH Global Community project with meaningful activities that have been implemented in the Mekong Delta recently.

“STEM Learning” Program: Spreading knowledge in the fields of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Technology and Innovation at high schools

In 2023, UEH successfully organized the “STEM Learning” program for teachers and students of middle and high schools in the Mekong Delta region from March 18, 2023 – April 1, 2023. The program supported high school teachers in Vinh Long Province in their career in the fields of technology and innovation, scientific research and technology transfer, helping students become familiar with Robot technology and artificial intelligence and supporting in-depth consultants to help schools participate in robotics competitions at all levels and achieve high results. At the same time, potential projects on robot technology were selected to be incubated at the Mekong Startup Incubator.

The Startup and Innovation Program continuing to promote its role in incubating startup ideas and projects

Mekong Incubator was established on November 30, 2022, with the mission of spreading knowledge, promoting and developing the startup ecosystem in Vinh Long province and the region. Mekong Incubator is one of the pioneers in developing a methodical startup project incubation model according to Vinh Long’s international standards, aiming to nurture and encourage innovation and start-ups of students, supporting the startup community and incubating projects and start-up companies, thereby serving as a launching pad for economic development in Vinh Long province in particular and provinces in the Mekong Delta in general. To date, Mekong Incubator has selected and incubated more than 10 projects.

The expansion of cooperation, sharing and business connection

Training cooperation at Vinh Long Campus with agencies and businesses is one of the steps to realize the 5 focus areas in the program “Connecting the community – Spreading knowledge – Sustainable action” of UEH. Over the past 4 years, UEH-VLC has signed MOUs with 26 agencies, banks, and businesses, welcoming many international delegations and experts to exchange, cooperate, visit and work.

This partnership will provide students with practical learning and experience opportunities, advanced technology platforms, scenarios, as well as create an experiential environment for students to practice and study directly at the enterprise. Thereby, they will become a high-quality human resource in the future, contributing to the Mekong Delta in particular and Vietnam in general. At the same time, this cooperation also aims to spread UEH’s intellectual values to the community and society for the goal of sustainable development.

Proud strides in scientific research activities

Along with training and community connection efforts, UEH-VLC’s research activities in the past period also reaped impressive results with a significant increase in the total number of research projects. From 59 research projects in 2020, up to now the total number of research projects of the campus has been over 200 works by lecturers, officials, and students that were published in prestigious domestic and international journals, ncluding: 26 research topics at all levels; 34 articles in international journals; 125 articles in domestic journals; 39 research topics from students participating in the “UEH Young Researcher Award”. The worth-noting point is the focus on publishing works in prestigious international journals in ISI and Scopus, along with the publication of monographs and completion of research topics at different levels, demonstrating the right investment from resources at the UEH main campus and the remarkable efforts of the academic staff at the campus.

In recent years, many conferences at Vinh Long Campus have contributed significantly to the development and exchange of knowledge in the research and business community. In total, there were over 17 conferences, including 3 international conferences and many national and regional conferences, with diverse cooperation from many units and the participation of international speakers (UK, Japan, Singapore, Philippines). These conferences have focused on important areas such as governance and management of science and technology, market development activities, climate change adaptation policies in the Mekong Delta, quantitative research in the fields of science and technology, economics – finance – banking, promoting the development of tourism in the Mekong Delta region, etc. The participation of many international speakers has increased the contribution value of these conferences and at the same time promoted research and innovation for the economy and society of Vinh Long province in particular and the Mekong Delta region in general, especially in the context of the 4.0 revolution.

A firm step for the multidisciplinary and sustainable journey of UEH University

UEH – Vinh Long Campus has made encouraging progress in all fields, maintaining its mission in training and developing high-quality human resources for the Mekong Delta region in particular and the country in general. Entering a new journey in the context of UEH upgrading to a Multi-disciplinary and Sustainable University, the Campus will continue to promote its values to contribute to the journey of the multidisciplinary UEH University. It is committed to optimizing existing resources to expand the training and research ecosystem in a multidisciplinary direction and developing domestic and international cooperation networks, thereby creating a unique position and prestige for Vinh Long Campus in the overall UEH.

On the journey of more than 47 years, UEH has created many milestones of achievements. Now, with a new position and stature – the Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University needs greater determination and efforts from the entire UEHer, with the important role of its units, Member Colleges, and Campuses, to jointly carry out the mission of contributing to human knowledge and the country’s socio-economic development./.
