Developing UEH Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Campus: Vision for 2025 – 2030

The first steps of UEH Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa

According to Resolution No. 09-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the construction and development of Khanh Hoa province, the goal is that by 2030 Khanh Hoa will be a central city based on highly promoting potential and advantages of the sea,  a smart, sustainable urban area with international identity and connection, an international marine tourism and service center, a growth pole, the center of the South Central Coast region, the Central Highlands and the whole country in terms of marine economy, high-tech industry, science and technology, innovation, human resource training, and high-quality health care, where people have a high standard of living, are peaceful and happy, with clean and comprehensively strong party organization and political system, and firmly guaranteed national defense, security and sovereignty islands.

The National Assembly also issued Resolution No. 55/2022/QH15 on piloting specific mechanisms and policies to develop Khanh Hoa Province. The Government has also issued Resolution No. 42/NQ-CP on the action program to implement Resolution No. 09-NQ/TW. The Provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa Province have also issued Action Programs and Plans for the above policies. In addition, Khanh Hoa Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050 also determines to encourage and invest in the construction of training and research facilities of the University of Economics  Ho Chi Minh City in Nha Trang according to the aim that this facility will become UEH Campus in Khanh Hoa.

With the support and facilitation of Khanh Hoa province, UEH Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa has been granted land use rights on a 2.1-hectare campus in the Bac Hon Ong school and training and vocational area, next to Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Khanh Hoa Provincial School of Politics, etc., which are also units that train and nurture elite human resources in Khanh Hoa province. At this time two years ago, the Architectural Plan Examination Council consisting of leading researchers, educators, and experienced architects was representing UEH to select the design plan as the basis foundation for the formation of a high-quality UEH training and knowledge space in the beautiful city of Nha Trang. The overall project includes main functional blocks: Administrative – Research block (including Board of Directors, specialized faculties, functional rooms, meeting rooms, 500-seat auditorium); Lecture hall block; Other function blocks – Library; Student dormitory block; Guest house block; The multi-purpose building block and other technical and infrastructure items, etc., which are expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

UEH Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa’s vision for 2025-2030

General Orientation

UEH Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa plans to become a Global Hub, an undergraduate and postgraduate training facility, consulting, research, and transferring knowledge and technology of UEH with high integration and international characteristics, a place to gather and connect reputable global partners, scientists, and experts in the field of education and consulting; the destination for students and trainees from multinational corporations, schools, international associations, etc.

Associating with potential, strengths, and needs of human resources, science, and technology to serve the development of Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa in particular, the South Central region and the Central Highlands, especially with the Resolutions, development strategies of the Government and localities in the period 2025-2030, vision to 2050.

Associating with Sustainable Development, technology application, innovation, and multidisciplinary integration.

Targets

2025-2030: Starting implementing programs, research projects, international cooperation, international partners – community connections, etc. The scale of training in the first phase is expected to have 300 undergraduate targets and 100 postgraduate targets, increasing to 1,000 undergraduate targets and 200 graduate targets by 2030.

After 2030 and vision to 2050: Developing in the right direction to become UEH Global Hub located in Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa.

Admissions and education

UEH Nha Trang plans to organize admission together with the UEH main campus with the same benchmark score to ensure input quality equal to or higher than the Ho Chi Minh City campus. The selected programs are high-quality training products and programs that fit into trends and are linked to the development needs of the region.

Learners (both Undergraduate and Postgraduate) who choose to study in Nha Trang will enjoy better learning conditions than studying at the Ho Chi Minh City campus (international learning and communication environment, exchange programs, joint programs, international dual degrees, CO-OP programs, regularly meeting, exchanging, and receiving instructions from international experts, researchers, and CEOs periodically at Nha Trang Campus, etc.)

Research and consulting

Establishing research groups/Institutes for research and consulting, etc. in Nha Trang, attracting local and international experts and graduate students to exchange and study regularly; Calling for projects to sponsor research and technology transfer related to local strengths, organizing large-scale international conferences, attracting many prestigious experts, scholars, and international partners for cooperation in training, research, and consulting.

International academic environment and sustainable action

UEH Nha Trang aims at an international learning, communication, and management environment. Accordingly, lecturers, officials, employees, and learners will teach, work, study, communicate, and interact mainly in English.

The UEHer community at UEH Nha Trang will act together sustainably in a modern university campus, designed with regional cultural characteristics, lots of green space, a fresh ocean climate, and the Green/Circular Campus operation model.

With the above orientation and vision, UEH Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa will be an important development step for UEH in the mission and vision of a multi-disciplinary university with an international academic reputation closely linked and serving the development of key regions of the country and Vietnam in particular.

Recently, UEH has also coordinated with the Department of Home Affairs of Khanh Hoa Province to deploy training classes under the Human Resource Development Program of Khanh Hoa province for the period 2021-2025, vision to 2030: Master’s degree in Public Management, Master’s degree in Smart and Innovative City Management; coordinated with the Department of Education and Training of Khanh Hoa province to organize the “Teaching STEM” class for high school teachers and students across the province; coordinated with Khanh Hoa Provincial Inspectorate to train and foster professional knowledge in Khanh Hoa Provincial Inspectorate; coordinated with the Department of Science and Technology of Khanh Hoa Province to implement the provincial scientific project “Project to establish the National Research Center for Ocean Technology”, etc.
