As a member of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), a Multidisciplinary University, UEH College of Business – COB has been implementing the mission of training high-quality human resources in the field of business, aiming at integration and knowledge transfer to the community. After 2 years of establishment, COB has obtained many impressive achievements, actively contributing to the overall development of UEH’s Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University strategy.

In 2021, UEH College of Business was established with a structure of 06 specialized schools as School of Management, School of International Business – Marketing, School of Finance, School of Banking, School of Accounting, School of Tourism; Short-term training center responsible for providing short-term courses responding to learners’ needs; and General Department. The school offers many undergraduate and graduate programs, coordinated with reputable universities and partners domestically and abroad.

Along with the development of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution and the trend of globalization, it is necessary to equip learners with multidisciplinary knowledge in the field of business, to be able to adapt to the multidimensional challenges of the economy, COB has implemented a the following strategies:

– Training high-quality human resources: Providing high-quality human resources with undergraduate and graduate degrees, meeting the requirements of the labor market in the business sector, capable of working in a global business environment, and most graduates are employed.

– Integration and knowledge transfer to become a global citizen: Quickly approaching the process of internationalization and integration into the world university community; Transferring knowledge to learners to become global citizens.

– Serving the community and building and developing society: Contributing to mechanisms and policies for business development and national finance, and providing and consulting solutions for localities, organizations, enterprises

Efforts to improve training quality

After 2 years of establishment, UEH College of Business has achieved many outstanding milestones in training activities. COB’s training programs in business and business-related fields include 15 undergraduate programs, 9 Master’s programs, 4 doctoral programs. The arrangement of diverse majors in one school facilitates the development of multidisciplinary training, with a scale of up to 20,000 undergraduate students, graduate students, and doctoral students each year. The school is constantly growing in quantity and quality and has built partial English and full English training programs.

In particular, the University focuses on developing undergraduate and postgraduate training programs (Masters and Doctorate) according to international standards awarded by UEH and/or international partner universities. The training programs are open and highly interconnected with UEH member colleges and with international partner universities. Specifically, COB’s programs have been successfully accredited according to FIBBA standards listed as Business Administration, International Business, Marketing, Commercial Business, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Audit; or according to AUN standards such as Finance – Banking; and continue to conduct accreditation/re-accreditation of new programs. Besides, many COB programs have been recognized by prestigious professional associations in the world such as CFA, ACCA, CPA, FRM, CMT, etc.

In addition to full-time training, UEH College of Business has a short-term training center – Institute of Human Resource and Business Development (Huredin) – which is the center for managing and implementing enrollment and programs fostering knowledge of economic management, leadership and human resource management with practical, reputable teaching programs, with periodic admissions or in-house design according to business requirements. In addition, Huredin conducts applied research consulting for nearly 200 companies and businesses and conducts many research projects on territorial planning and industry development planning for southern provinces and cities as Binh Duong. Duong, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Lam Dong, Ninh Thuan, Long An, Ca Mau, etc.

COB’s teaching staff always accompanies and supervises scientific research for undergraduate and postgraduate students in academic competitions or in scientific conferences domestically and abroad. Activities that build students’ mindsets to identify, evaluate, analyze and make scientific-based decisions are opportunities for students to apply the theoretical knowledge they have learned to solve real-life problems.

Inheriting previous achievements, UEH College of Business has re-signed with international partners to strengthen stronger and more effective relationships and connections as well as expanding the development partner network in training and professional education

Research Achievements

In parallel with the training mission, UEH College of Business has had important achievements in scientific research, consulting and knowledge transfer activities with recognition from the domestic and international community, thereby contributing to the development of UEH’s academic reputation domestically and internationally. COB lecturers have conducted many studies in the fields of business, management, finance – banking – accounting, tourism, etc., and achieved remarkable results in the past 2 years: 49 journal articles recognized by the State Council for Professorships (under 1 point); 36 journal articles on recognized by the State Council of Professorships (1 point, Vietnamese and English versions); 57 articles published in the Proceedings of domestic conferences or full papers published on the website of the conference organizers and with an ISSN or ISBN; 140 papers published in the International Conference Proceedings by scientific publishers in the form of book chapters or articles with ISSN or ISBN; 6 enterprise-level consulting topics/projects; 8 completed ministerial-level projects and equivalent; 1 completed state-level project; 28 completed school-level/regional school-level projects, key school-level projects; 2 Completed Nafosted projects; 82 articles published in international journals in ISI (SSCI, SCIE)/SCOPUS Q1,2,3,4 or ABDC grade A, A*, etc. Along with that are the efforts of the University and the Schools in successfully organizing national and international conferences which have pervasive impacts on the community.

Connecting the community for sustainable development

Showing its social responsibility according to UEH’s orientation, UEH College of Business has made efforts and promoted collaborative activities in connecting the community, designing projects that create meaningful results to promote innovation and changing solutions that bring useful values and opportunities to experience intellectual values and for self-development for learners. UEH COB has actively connected with domestic and foreign partners and businesses to exchange students by semester and exchange lecturers; implemented joint programs in the form of 2+2, 3+1 and business semesters; and shared practical experiences, icluding:

In addition to education and academic partners, business partners have accompanied UEH College of Business in nurturing talents, awarding scholarships, connecting employers and students, implementing business visit programs, inviting businesses to organize seminars/professional training for students, and donating knowledge bookcases to UEH’s library. In addition, the University has designed free courses on the online platform for students and the community to create many useful values for society.

The achievements in the past 2 years are a solid foundation for UEH College of Business to be ready to act for the common goal of developing a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable UEH University, fulfilling its mission of serving learners and alumni, businesses, social organizations, governments, and the academic community. In particular, the orientation is emphasized on:

*Training

COB implements the strategy: (1) Training learners to succeed in future jobs; (2) Developing learners into global citizens; (3) Promoting learners’ personal abilities; and (4) Improving teaching quality.

Accordingly, the College continues to improve the training program in a multidisciplinary and highly practical direction, integrating technology and digital economy, adapting to future jobs of the 4.0 technology revolution era in order to help learners succeed in the labor market and their lives. It Implements the strategy of internationalizing the teaching program by continuously updating it according to international standards, enhancing teaching in English, and inviting international lecturers to participate in training and consulting activities. At the same time, the college and the schools constantly promote international student and faculty exchange programs; thereby contributing to equipping learners with global skills and thinking to apply in work and life, building a personalized training program to help maximize each individual’s unique abilities, and continuing to implement activities to improve the teaching quality of lecturers.

*Scientific research

In the upcoming time, UEH College of Business will strive to increase the amount of academic research and invest in-depth in excellent research. In addition, the College invests in promoting applied research that meets market needs and operates diverse policies in assigned fields. The college aims to build a standard, inspiring, equitable and diverse research environment for all components of the research ecosystem including lecturers, researchers, graduate students and doctoral students.

*International cooperation

UEH College of Business will establish diverse international research networks in the fields of training and research. Diversity is also reflected in the geographical distribution of the network and the characteristics of partners (universities, research institutes, international organizations, NGOs). At the same time, the College focuses on increasing international programs to increase the proportion of international students and the proportion of international lecturers coming to UEH. Besides traditional training partners from Australia, Europe and the United States, the College focus on the education market of Southeast Asian countries.

*Social influence

With the mission of contributing to building a better and more developed society, UEH College of Business is committed to the role and implementation of social responsibilities of the university to the people and community; joining with local communities and social organizations to design and implement development programs for an equitable society that respects diversity; committed to implementing activities to promote environmental protection in the college, UEH, community, locality, and globally; promoting the integration of the contents of the UEH Sustainable University Project into the University’s activities.

*Governance and operations

In the context that UEH has transformed itself into a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University, the management and operation orientation of UEH College of Business is based on synergy, efficiency and adaptability to change. The University is committed to creating a unified and united member community to develop Multidisciplinary and Sustainable UEH; have a strategy to connect lecturers, staff and learners to join in all areas of activity from scientific research and international cooperation to teaching, developing interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary training programs, and social organizations.

The college will coordinate with Units, Departments, Divisions, and UEH Member Colleges will continue implementing digital transformation to serve the task of teaching, research and administration, invest in and develop a team of high-quality lecturers, increase the proportion of lecturers with PhD, Associate Professor, and Professor, and improve English proficiency each year. At the same time, UEH College of Business will coordinate with departments and member colleges to continue building a good working environment, solidarity, dedication, sharing, innovation, and promoting personal responsibility.

On the journey of more than 47 years, UEH has created many milestones of achievements. Now, with a new position and stature – the Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University needs greater determination and efforts from the entire UEHer, with the important role of UEH Member Colleges to jointly realize the mission of UEH. The network contributes to human knowledge and the country’s socio-economic development.
