Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between UEH College of Economics, Law and Government and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

The signing ceremony of Memorandum of Agreement between the UEH College of Economics, Law and Government (UEH – CELG) and the Association of Certified Public Accountants (ACCA; UK) took place successfully on the morning of March 29, 2024 at UEH Campus A, 59C Nguyen Dinh Chieu, District 3.

Attending the signing ceremony, on behalf of UEH College of Economics, Law and Government, were Associate Professor Pham Khanh Nam – Principal of UEH – CELG, lecturers and leaders of affiliated schools and departments, and UEH students.

Regarding the guest, there was the participation of Ms. Khuat Thi Lien Huong, Training Director, ACCA Mainland Southeast Asia; Ms. Pham Nguyen Thi Ngoc Chau – Head of Foreign Affairs – Education and Training Division, ACCA Vietnam; Ms. Ca Nguyen Thuy Nhung – Veteran member of ACCA, Director of Tax Consulting Department at KPMG Vietnam; Ms. Le Nguyen Thuy Mai – Head of Senior Recruitment Department and Mr. Pham Ngoc Hung – Head of Human Resources Recruitment Team.

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is the international professional association for specialists in finance, accounting, auditing and management. Its operation goal is to provide opportunities to achieve internationally valuable and globally recognized professional certifications for those who are passionate about competence and are determined to pursue a career in accounting, auditing, finance and administration.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Pham Khanh Nam – Principal of UEH College of Economics, Law and Government – emphasized the importance of practicality in working principles at businesses in the teaching process, building training strategies so that graduates can be recognised by businesses and contribute to the development of the country towards sustainable development of the community. Therefore, building relationships with ACCA in many fields, especially in cooperation on linking training programs with scientific topics and activities along with human resource development programs, will mark new steps in the equity and sustainable development of the two units.

Representing ACCA in Mainland Southeast Asia, Ms. Khuat Thi Lien Huong – Director of Training – expressed her appreciation to the UEH College of Economics, Law and Government for the warm welcome and organization of the signing ceremony, along with her excitement because UEH-CELG is a prestigious training unit in economics and public finance. ACCA Vietnam believed that building a cooperative relationship with UEH-CELG would contribute partly to improving students’ integration capabilities in the high-quality labor market, research, and training in Economics, Public Finance, Taxation, Accounting, etc., especially in the fields that both sides were paying attention to. UEH-CELG and ACCA would cooperate to build a human resource with good expertise and professional ethics.

The content of the MoA to be implemented between the School of Public Finance – UEH College of Economics, Law and Government and ACCA Vietnam in the near future includes:

  • ACCA experts and members participate in sharing practice and teaching students knowledge and skills in tax and related fields;
  • Building, evaluating, and contributing to training programs and increasing practicality in teaching and learning activities through professional seminars on taxes and public finance;
  • Organizing and judging academic competitions on tax and public finance for students;
  • Extracurricular tax talent incubator program on ACCA Taxation – Vietnam module;
  • Talks on tax and consider to aim at integrating ACCA qualifications such as CertIPSAS and CertPFM into the curriculum.

Continuing the program was the seminar “Learn about the ACCA diploma and career orientation in tax for UEH students” with the presentation by Ms. Pham Nguyen Thi Ngoc Chau, Head of Foreign Affairs, Education – Training Division, ACCA on the topic “Learn about the ACCA qualification and career opportunities for tax students”.

In the second part of the seminar, Mr. Pham Ngoc Hung, Head of Human Resources Recruitment Team, KPMG Vietnam presented the topic “Information and recruitment process for the Tax Consulting Department at KPMG Vietnam “. KPMG Vietnam is one of the four leading Big4 companies in the audit field in Vietnam.

The third part of the program included a practical talk by Ms. Ca Nguyen Thuy Nhung – ACCA veteran member and Director of the Tax Consulting Department at KPMG Vietnam on “What students need to prepare and secrets for internships and recruitment into the Tax Consulting Department at KPMG and Big4 businesses”.

The signing ceremony of MoA between UEH – CELG and ACCA would open a strong and long-term cooperative relationship in training, fostering, and developing high-quality human resources, contributing to the country’s economic development. On that basis, this cooperative relationship would achieve great success in the upcoming time, bringing many development opportunities for students and making practical contributions to the Vietnamese economy.
