The class is led by Dr. Le Thi Hanh An – Deputy Head of the Department of Communications and Partnerships, UEH, and lecturer at the School of Communication Design. Practical Lessons from Behind the Stage Lights
Behind every glamorous event, every dazzling stage, lie hundreds of decisions, thousands of details, and the coordination of an entire team to create seamless experiences for attendees. These backstage stories became the material for the Glo-cal class “Behind The Show: The Event Industry – Creativity, Pressure, and What Happens Behind the Stage,” where learners gain access to professional stories from those working in the field.

According to expert Le Quynh Thu, to pursue a sustainable career in communications and event organization, learners must continuously cultivate three core elements: Knowledge – Skills – Attitude. Knowledge comes not only from lectures but is also accumulated through experience, self-learning ability, and continuously updating market changes. Alongside this are adaptability, change management, working with people, and a curious, learning-oriented attitude – these are decisive factors for young people to develop long-term in a constantly evolving industry.

Through these professional stories, learners are exposed to various practical content, including:
-
The relationship between Brand and Agency in project implementation;
-
Professional event organization and operation processes;
-
The pressures, challenges, and opportunities behind each stage;
-
Mindset for identifying career opportunities in the communications and events industry;
-
The competencies that businesses expect from young talent.
From this, learners have the opportunity to view the event industry from a more comprehensive perspective, while gradually shaping their capabilities, building professional thinking, and preparing to adapt to real work environments.
An Open Classroom, Dialogue to Understand the Profession
Within the class framework, a topic discussed by lecturers, experts, and learners was: How to preserve cultural values in communication stories amidst the constantly changing social media landscape?
Starting from concerns about the trend of highly “viral” content, students raised many questions surrounding the responsibility of communicators in balancing public appeal with spreading positive values. Where is the line between engaging content and responsible communication products? What should professionals do to tell cultural stories in ways that resonate with young people while maintaining authenticity and meaning?

From these questions, expert Le Quynh Thu shared that culture is the “root” and “origin” of all communication activities. According to her, in a context where technology and content trends change daily, cultural values remain a sustainable material for professionals to create stories with depth and lasting vitality.

Sharing the same view, Dr. Le Thi Hanh An emphasized that communication professionals, beyond creating content, need to be storytellers of cultural and humanistic narratives. Every message disseminated must be built on a spirit of responsibility, because communication should create influence through shaping awareness and spreading positive values to the community.

50+ Inspiring Glo-cal Classes for Learners through UEH’s Glo-cal Training Model
As one of 22 flagship activities commemorating UEH’s 50th anniversary, the 50+ Inspiring Glo-cal Classes series is implemented with the goal of helping learners access global knowledge in connection with local contexts and practical market demands.
Consistently pursuing the Glo-cal Education orientation, UEH places learners at the center, striving to teach and convey global knowledge in connection with local contexts and market realities.
Through business-connected classes, students have the opportunity to accumulate foundational knowledge while developing adaptive thinking, collaboration skills, and the ability to apply knowledge to professional practice. Now, the learning journey no longer stops at understanding an operational process but also opens opportunities for learners to explore their chosen field, build career direction, and gradually become global citizens capable of taking action from their own local context.

50+ Inspiring Glo-cal ClassesAs one of 22 flagship activities towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment and development of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), the 50+ Inspiring Glo-cal Classes program has attracted over 700 experts, including leaders, managers, and professionals from state organizations and enterprises, to participate as Practical Lecturers. Unlike previous ad-hoc approaches, the program is implemented to build a foundation for long-term, synchronized connections between the University and practical lecturers on a regular basis each academic semester (2-3 times per year). This is the foundation for UEH to develop long-term practical training cooperation models in the future. Practical lecturers will accompany the class through various implementation formats to enhance connectivity and ensure flexibility for both experts and learners. ![]() |

Half a century has passed. From a book of knowledge with a nation-building mission in 1976 to today, UEH has grown into one of the leading universities in Asia. This is the journey of 8 heritage values that form UEH’s internal strength, preserved and transformed across generations of UEHers. From Unity – Compassion, which laid the foundation in the early years; Dedication – Community – Pioneering, which shaped today’s identity and standing; to Creation – Sustainability – Internationalization, which opens up the vision for the future. These 8 values crystallize into a heritage of internal strength, connecting the past, present, and aspirations, and continuing to guide UEH in co-creating the future. Stay tuned for UEH’s 50th anniversary celebration event: UEH Grand Anniversary “Embracing Future Together” On October 27, 2026, at A.116 Hall and livestreamed on UEH’s media and social media platforms. ![]() ![]() |
