Vision for the UEH-Vo Thi Sau Campus

Applied “Smart” and Sustainable Solutions

*Smart Architecture and Climate Control

The SmART Hub project applies smart solutions to optimize airflow and temperature control. Quick items like installing rainproof roofs, anti-slip floors and open windows in the corridors help increase natural ventilation. The corridor space is covered with green areas, regulating natural temperature and increasing the attraction of outdoor areas. In particular, in the courtyard, the green trellis and hanging plants using aero culture techniques help create an airy resting space, enhancing physical and mental health for everyone.

*Soft flood prevention solution

The SmART Hub project integrates natural flood prevention solutions instead of relying only on traditional hard solutions. In particular, storm garden areas are built to support natural rainwater absorption, reducing pressure on the drainage system. In the courtyard, the part of the concrete will be removed and replaced with soil, creating conditions for green trees to grow and help drain water effectively. This space is also designed as a natural garden with an open yard for “barefoot” activities to connect people with nature.

*Relaxation and entertainment space

SmART Hub provides a space in terms of relaxation and interaction for staff and lecturers with a common coffee area, located at the end of the corridor on the first floor. This space will create opportunities for connection, networking and relaxation during breaks. For students, the cafeteria will be located at the end of the courtyard, facilitating outdoor activities. In addition, a small pickleball court will be arranged in the courtyard to encourage recreational sports activities that help reduce stress and increase dynamism.

*Diversifying the types of activities at SmART Hub

SmART Hub space will support different units in the UEH system with many research, connection and innovation activities:

  • Institute of Smart Urban and Management (ISCM): Providing smart design and management solutions.
  • Institute of Innovation (UII): Supporting and nurturing startup ideas, connecting students with practical opportunities.
  • Incubator: Space for startup projects.
  • UEH Boutique Hotel: Connecting culture with domestic and international guests, contributing to community development.

“Towards a future without plastic waste” program

In particular, the SmART Hub Project includes the “Towards a future without plastic waste” program to eliminate single-use plastic products on campus. From setting up recycling points to environmental education activities, the program aims to promote green living and form environmental protection awareness.

It can be stated that the SmART Hub Project will be an important turning for UEH, not only renovating green spaces but also creating an environment that connects the community through art, technology and nature. SmART Hub will become an ideal destination in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City – the location where technology and art blend to create a sustainable, creative learning and working space that inspires the community.
