Launch of the “UEH Wellbeing University” Project: A Journey to Proactively Create a Comprehensive Happy University Environment (Wellbeing)

17 June, 2026

As one of the 10 key projects of the UEH Development Strategy for the 2025–2030 period, UEH Wellbeing University – the University with a Happy Environment, was officially launched in 2026 with the aspiration to create a comprehensive learning, working, and development environment for the UEH community

This is not merely a short-term series of activities, but a long-term journey aimed at embedding values of health, happiness, and human development as part of the culture and daily experience of every UEHer.

Happy University: From global trends to a comprehensive human development ecosystem

Globally, the concept of a “Wellbeing University” is emerging as a new development trend in higher education, approached under various names such as Flourishing School Culture, Well-being School, Happy School, Healthy University, or Health Promoting University.

In essence, a Happy University is not simply a low-pressure environment or one that promotes passive balance. It is a comprehensive Human Flourishing Ecosystem, where each individual is enabled to maximize their potential, pursue meaningful goals, be creative, contribute, and achieve success in a state of physical, mental, and social well-being.

These approaches all emphasize that comprehensive Wellbeing and strategic success are not opposing goals but mutually reinforcing aspects. When each individual establishes a solid foundation of physical and mental health, lives in positive relationships, a fair working environment, and has continuous development opportunities, it generates capacity and internal strength at an optimal level. Consequently, learning ability and work performance are optimized, creative thinking and the capacity to contribute to the community are naturally and fully realized.

A comprehensive Wellbeing University ecosystem typically includes seven core pillars:

  • Physical Well-being: Promoting physical activity, healthy nutrition, and proactive health care.
  • Emotional & Mental Well-being: Enhancing emotional management capacity, adaptability, and psychological health.
  • Relational & Social Well-being: Building a respectful, supportive, and connected environment.
  • Self-Fulfilment: Encouraging lifelong learning, self-discovery, and personal potential development.
  • Career Well-being: Supporting professional capacity development and finding meaning in work.
  • Environmental Well-being: Creating green, friendly, equitable, and inclusive learning and working spaces.
  • Financial Well-being: Enhancing personal financial management capacity and building sustainable development policies.

UEH Wellbeing University – Growing Well Together: A journey to create a Happy University at UEH

The year 2026 marks the launch phase of the project, named the UEH Happiness Journey 2026, aimed at helping the UEH community correctly understand the concept of a happy environment, starting with small but sustainable changes in lifestyle, spirit, relationships, and community culture.

With the overarching message “Growing Well Together,” the four key actions of the journey are: Healthy Body – Happy Meal – Focus & Resilience – Flourish

These four values represent the important foundations of a happy university environment, where every UEHer is encouraged to take better care of themselves, connect more positively, and develop more comprehensively each day.

UEH Family Fair 2026: The starting point of the happiness journey

UEH launches the Happy University journey from a very familiar value: family, with the desire to spread the message: “Happy UEHers Families – Happy UEH.”

The UEH Family Fair 2026 event will be the official activation of the project, where staff, employees, and their families can experience interactive spaces designed in the spirit of the Happy University.

Through the Happy Passport journey, each family will explore four experiential spaces:

  • Happy Meal: A culinary space with messages about family meals, balanced nutrition, detox water, and healthy choices for well-being.
  • Healthy Body: Physical activities, family games, and a children’s experience area to spread a dynamic, positive spirit.
  • Focus & Resilience: A space for nurturing positive emotions through activities such as writing things to be grateful for, sending wishes, messages of love, and free drawing.
  • Flourish: A community connection area with a “My Happy UEH Family” photo booth, capturing meaningful moments of the UEH family.

Developing Wellbeing Spaces at UEH

Alongside programs aimed at raising awareness and promoting behavioral change, UEH is progressively realizing the model of a university with a happy environment through the development of Wellbeing spaces embedded within the learning and working environment. Specifically, UEH has operationalized the UEH Wellness Space – a health and fitness facility dedicated to its staff and employees across its campuses, designed to encourage regular physical activity, physical health care, and daily energy rejuvenation.

Concurrently, the University is continuing to renovate and develop rest and relaxation areas for lecturers, ensuring they are user-friendly and comfortable, thereby contributing to a better work-life balance. These spaces form an integral part of the Wellbeing ecosystem at UEH, where every member is holistically supported in terms of physical health, mental well-being, social relationships, and sustainable development.

A journey throughout 2026

UEH Wellbeing University does not stop at a communication campaign or a series of experiential events.

Throughout 2026, UEH will publish a Healthy Lifestyle Handbook for UEHers, organize a symposium on the Happy University, and host a seminar on “Happy University: From Research to Action.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung shared: “A Happy University is not simply a low-pressure environment or one that promotes passive balance. Through UEH Wellbeing University, UEH is gradually creating an ecosystem where happiness is not merely a fleeting emotion, but becomes an internal source of energy that helps every UEHer learn better, work more effectively, connect more deeply, and together create sustainable values for the community. That journey begins with small daily changes and is nurtured by every member of the UEH family.
