As part of the knowledge-sharing activities within the ArtTech Fusion series by the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), the panel discussion themed “AI and Virtual Influencers in the Fashion Industry” was a meaningful gathering where leading experts in artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), and sustainable fashion shared their knowledge, perspectives, and experiences on the profound changes in the modern fashion industry.
The panel discussion “AI and Virtual Influencers in the Fashion Industry” featured Dr. Nguyen Thien Bao as the moderator and speakers Designer Quynh Paris and Mr. Dong Ho.
AI in the Fashion Industry: Potential and Applications
Dr. Nguyen Thien Bao, an artificial intelligence (AI) expert with over 20 years of experience, began the discussion by sharing his in-depth knowledge of AI and its applications in the fashion industry. As the founder and CEO of HBB Tech, a company specializing in AI solutions for businesses, Dr. Nguyen Thien Bao affirmed the crucial role of AI in optimizing the design and production processes in fashion.
According to Dr. Nguyen Thien Bao, one of the most prominent applications of AI in the fashion industry is the optimization of the creative design process. Major companies like Amazon, Tommy Hilfiger, and IBM have collaborated to leverage AI in analyzing trends and creating new designs. The application of AI not only helps designers quickly identify fashion trends but can also generate innovative designs that meet consumer needs and preferences. AI helps designers save time and resources while expanding their creative capabilities, thereby driving innovation in the industry.
In addition, Dr. Nguyen Thien Bao also highlighted the role of AI in supply chain management and production optimization. Major players like H&M and Zara have used AI to forecast demand, manage inventory, and optimize production processes, helping to minimize waste and maximize profits. AI enables fashion companies to predict customer trends and behaviors, allowing them to quickly adjust their products to meet market demands. Specifically, AI can analyze data from online shopping, social media comments, and even weather changes to forecast which items will become popular in the near future.
A prime example of AI application in the fashion industry is Alibaba, which aims to create smarter online shopping experiences. AI not only helps customers find products that match their personal tastes and styles but also provides them with suggestions for new items, making the process of choosing outfits easier and faster. This is a notable trend in e-commerce, where AI plays a significant role in enhancing user experience and optimizing the online shopping journey.
The Poem of Milk and Flowers
The discussion also made a strong impression with a presentation by Mr. Dong Ho, CEO and AR Creator at Fomalia XR Studio. Mr. Dong Ho is a renowned artist and creator in the fields of digital marketing and augmented reality (AR) fashion. With a solid background in digital marketing and virtual fashion creation, he has built his career on the intersection of art, fashion, and modern technology.
One of the unique projects Mr. Dong Ho shared was the creative process behind the “Milk and Flowers” pattern, a symbol of a mother’s boundless love.
The poem of “Milk and Flowers” represents a sacred moment where maternal love is expressed through every drop of milk. But this feeling is not just about happiness or love. The experience of breastfeeding for the first time is also filled with mixed emotions. There is an indescribable sense of loss, as the mother feels herself drawn into a new role, where her personal identity can be blurred, completely overshadowed by maternal instinct. At that moment, the mother is no longer herself but seems to merge into an invisible transformation, with fragments of her former self disarranged and torn.
These patterns were printed on fabric and designed using 3D software. 3D technology not only helps visualize the patterns on each piece of fabric but also optimizes the size and scale of the embroidered motifs to create the final product. This minimizes risks during production and yields high efficiency in creating unique designs.
Subsequently, Mr. Dong Ho used augmented reality (AR) technology to create a novel shopping experience for users. AR allows users to interact with products in a virtual space, giving them a clearer sense of the aesthetic and uniqueness of each item.
For Mr. Dong Ho, the creative process is not just a job but a journey of self-discovery and a deep exploration of human values. And through this fusion of art and technology, he has found a way to convey these emotions to the world, so that each product is not just a fashion item but a work of art imbued with the essence of love and life.
Sustainable Fashion
An important part of the discussion was the participation of fashion designer Quynh Paris. She shared her insights on the sustainable fashion trend, which is becoming increasingly important in the global fashion industry. In a context of depleting natural resources and the clear negative impact of the fashion industry on the environment, sustainable fashion has become an indispensable element for modern designers and fashion brands.
Designer Quynh Paris stated that in her collections, she always prioritizes the use of recycled and eco-friendly materials. She also emphasized the importance of using technology to optimize the production process, minimize waste, and create long-lasting collections. Quynh Paris is a prime example of applying sustainability principles to fashion design, inspiring young designers to create products that are not only beautiful but also environmentally responsible.
AI, AR, and Sustainable Fashion – The Intersection of Technology and Art
The panel discussion “AI and Virtual Influencers in the Fashion Industry” provided deep insights into the profound changes within the fashion industry. From applying AI in design and product management to using AR technology to create virtual shopping experiences, the fashion industry is continuously innovating and adapting to modern technological trends. The speakers offered diverse perspectives on how technology and creativity can combine to create products that are not only beautiful but also deliver sustainable value.
In the future, the combination of AI, AR, and sustainable fashion promises to open up new opportunities, helping the fashion industry to develop even more strongly, meet the growing demands of consumers, and protect the environment.
