Overview of the class “Experience and Practices in Saigon Co.op’s Agricultural Procurement Operations”
Bringing supply chain challenges from business to the classroom
During the discussion and dialogue session with experts from Saigon Co.op, students and participants gained access to the real-world operational picture of the entire agricultural procurement system at a large-scale retail enterprise, where decisions regarding supply sources, logistics, quality control, and customer care directly affect the efficiency of the value chain.
Through the sharing by the Saigon Co.op expert team, students had the opportunity to gain deeper insights into:
- The legal system and standards for agricultural products;
- The process of building and managing the agricultural procurement network;
- Criteria for evaluating and selecting suppliers;
- The linkage model between raw material regions – transportation – distribution systems;
- Quality control processes and ensuring product standards;
- Current challenges in supply chain risk management.

Multi-perspective sharing from lecturers and experts within the class framework
The session provided practical sharing from experienced experts from Saigon Co.op and UEH: MSc. Huynh Thanh Tuan – Director of Quality Management; Ms. Dinh Thi Cam Linh – Deputy Director of Quality Management; Dr. Nguyen Kim Duc, Dr. Ho Quoc Thong – Members of the School of Economics Executive Board; Dr. Le Thanh Loan – Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Resources and Environment, School of Economics, UEH; MSc. Phung Thanh Binh – Program Director of UEH Agribusiness; along with distinguished lecturers.
Beyond practical professional knowledge, the class offered learners the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of how businesses make decisions in real operating environments, where market data, consumer demand, supply fluctuations, and quality standards are constantly changing. These real-life scenarios helped students grasp the connection between classroom knowledge and how businesses organize, coordinate, and optimize the entire agricultural value chain.
An open academic space where learners engage in direct dialogue with leading experts
At UEH, the inspiring Glo-cal classes do not simply convey knowledge in one direction, but empower learners to ask questions, engage in dialogue, and share their own perspectives on the profession. This is a two-way dialogue space aimed at creating a civilized academic community with close connections among experts – lecturers – and students.

Two-way dialogues between lecturers – experts – learners extending beyond the conventional classroom framework
Through the direct exchange session, students discussed pressing issues in the current economic context, such as: how can businesses balance quality standards and operating costs; criteria for selecting raw material regions; how to control risks amid supply fluctuations; food safety insurance and customer care; and the professional competencies that businesses expect from young human resources in the supply chain field.
The dialogue discussions with experts extended beyond the traditional classroom space, affirming students’ practical interest in their future professional environments. This is also an opportunity for learners to connect with real-world perspectives from businesses, better understand labor market requirements, and shape their career development paths while still at university.
50+ Inspiring Glo-cal Classes for learners through UEH’s Glo-cal training model
As one of 22 key activities commemorating UEH’s 50 th anniversary, the 50+ Inspiring Glo-cal Classes series is implemented with the goal of helping learners access global knowledge in connection with local contexts and practical market needs.
Consistently pursuing the Glo-cal Education orientation, UEH always places learners at the center, striving to teach and convey global knowledge (Global) in connection with local contexts and market realities (Local).
By participating in these business-connected classes, students have the opportunity to accumulate foundational knowledge while developing adaptive thinking, collaborative capacity, and the ability to apply knowledge to professional practice. Their learning journey no longer stops at understanding an operational process, but also opens up opportunities for learners to explore their chosen field, build career orientation, and gradually become global citizens capable of acting from their own local context./.

50+ Inspiring Glo-cal ClassesAs one of 22 key activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment and development of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), the 50+ Inspiring Glo-cal Classes program has attracted nearly 700 experts, including leaders, managers, and personnel from state organizations and enterprises, to participate as Practical Lecturers Unlike previous ad-hoc approaches, the program is implemented to build a long-term, synchronized connection platform between the University and practical lecturers on a regular basis every training semester (2-3 times per year). This serves as a foundation for UEH to develop long-term practical training cooperation models in the future. The practical lecturers will accompany the classes through various diverse implementation formats, enhancing connectivity and ensuring proactivity for both experts and learners. ![]() |
