In 2025, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) continued to deliver education outreach activities beyond campus, bringing knowledge, skills and hands-on learning models to high schools, partner institutions and local communities. These activities were delivered in two forms: programmed activities, sustained annually or through long-term projects; and ad-hoc activities, designed to meet the specific educational needs of each locality.

Activities took place in high schools, communes, wards, provincial agencies, businesses and partner institutions across 22 provinces and cities in Vietnam. Many programmes were run voluntarily by students through the UEH Youth Union – Student Association. Highlights of 2025 include the Let’s Green Unitour, which brought the UEH Green University Model to other universities and colleges; the Student Economic Volunteer Campaign, with educational and skills-building activities for children and local residents; and career guidance, STEM coaching and technology demonstrations held at high schools. Through the direct involvement of lecturers, experts and student volunteers, UEH has broadened its community service and created opportunities for people outside the university to access knowledge and practical learning. These activities embody UEH’s mission “For the sustainable development of the community” and contribute to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

UEH’s education and training programmes beyond campus in 2025 focused on:

(1) Sustainable career guidance and STEM education in high schools (programmed, combined with ad-hoc activities). UEH’s admissions and career guidance tour, organised with Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Thanh Nien Newspaper and the Ho Chi Minh City Education Magazine, reached 22 provinces and cities and nearly 80,000 students and parents (as of 28 February 2025). In the Mekong Delta alone, UEH Mekong connected with 172 high schools and more than 20,000 students. UEH also brought STEM education, Industry 4.0 technologies and green habits to students through the STEM and Career Guidance Festival at Vo Van Kiet High School, Vinh Long (18 January 2025, more than 2,000 visits) and the STEM 101 competition at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Khanh Hoa (July–August 2025, 15 teams).

(2) Community education and charity classes run by student volunteers (programmed, combined with ad-hoc activities). The 2025 Student Economic Volunteer Campaign mobilised 577 volunteers to run summer review classes and skills training for children in communes of Vinh Long and Ho Chi Minh City. The 2025 Spring Volunteer Campaign, with 2,200 volunteers, held charity classes at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Special School and health education sessions for children at the SOS Children’s Village. The “Volunteer Saturday – Green Sunday” programme coached residents of Tan Kien commune in using online public services. The UEH Green Campus Project transferred the Green University Model to 7 universities and colleges through the Let’s Green Unitour. Ad-hoc activities included a Zero Waste awareness campaign in Nha Trang and a robotics demonstration at Youth Fest Ho Chi Minh City.

(3) Training and capacity building for schools and local government (programmed). Under the UEH Global Project, UEH partnered with the Vinh Long Department of Education and Training to train more than 30,000 teachers, from preschool to high school, in applying AI (October 2025). UEH also delivered leadership and management training to 125 key officials of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province (May 2025).

Through these programmes, UEH brings higher education beyond its campuses to students, teachers, local officials, students of partner institutions and local residents. The model of “co-creating knowledge with the community” is run across UEH units: the Youth Union – Student Association, UEH Mekong, the Institute of Intelligent and Interactive Technologies (3ITech), the Institute for Regional Development Research and Consulting, and the UEH Green Campus Project. It mobilises UEH lecturers, students and domestic and international partners towards the goal of “Leaving no one behind in access to quality education”.

Let’s Green Unitour Day 2025 – UEH Green Campus Project Programmed. 2025 sessions: 27 Nov (University of Finance – Marketing), 30 Nov (Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine), 1 Dec (Ho Chi Minh City National College of Education), 6 Dec (Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade), 8 Dec (University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City), 12 Dec (Thu Dau Mot University), 26 Dec (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology – HUTECH). The series continued into January 2026 Students of universities and colleges In 2025, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, through the UEH Green Campus Project and the UEH Youth Union – Student Association, partnered with the Vingroup Fund for a Green Future to deliver the Let’s Green Unitour programme, sharing and scaling up the Green University Model at universities and colleges outside UEH.

On 31 October 2025, UEH signed cooperation agreements with 10 co-organising institutions, laying the foundation for a series of experiential learning activities at partner campuses. From 27 November to 26 December 2025, the programme was held at seven institutions.

At each institution, students experienced four learning spaces: an introduction to the UEH Green University Model; hands-on waste sorting and habit change through the Green Campus Game; environmental art; and green initiatives of the co-organising institution. The activities turn knowledge of the circular economy and sustainable development into visual, hands-on experiences, encouraging students to apply them in their studies and daily lives.

Conclusion

In 2025, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) continued to expand its education outreach beyond campus through programmed activities and ad-hoc initiatives that respond to the practical needs of schools, organisations and local communities. These programmes combine the roles of lecturers, experts and student volunteers, bringing knowledge of career guidance, science and technology, digital transformation, environmental protection and sustainable development to learners outside UEH.

Highlights include Let’s Green Unitour 2025, a series of experiential learning activities at universities and colleges; the Student Economic Volunteer Campaign, with classes and skills-building activities for local children; and STEM and career guidance programmes held directly at high schools in Vinh Long and Khanh Hoa. These activities show how UEH combines continuous educational programmes with initiatives tailored to the specific needs of communities.

In 2025, UEH shifted its outreach programmes beyond campus from expanding coverage to deeper implementation with measurable impact. Beneficiaries include students, teachers, local officials, children, residents and students of partner institutions. Compared with 2024, four differences stand out:

– The commitment to support digital transformation in Mekong Delta schools was realised through AI training for more than 30,000 teachers.

– The Green University Model moved from planning to actual transfer at partner institutions.

– STEM education for high school students became a new focus.

– Volunteer activities shifted strongly from material support to direct education.

The combination of programmed activities, ad-hoc activities and the proactive role of student volunteers reflects UEH’s model of “co-creating knowledge with the community”, working towards the goal of “Leaving no one behind in access to quality education”.
