The University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environment through the provision of free medical and reproductive–sexual health education and services for all students. To ensure a protective and responsive campus setting, UEH has enacted the Procedure for Receiving and Supporting Learners Experiencing Sexual Harassment at UEH. Within this framework, the Department of Student Affairs (DSA) serves as the primary unit responsible for counselling, support, and the dissemination of knowledge and information. The DSA also provides reproductive and sexual healthcare services for learners across all study levels, and manages the reporting and handling of sexual harassment cases. This system ensures that students have timely access to appropriate healthcare and psychosocial support services whenever needed.

+ Counseling services under DSA is responsible for providing psychological counselling for students who face issues related to age-specific psychological factors and changes in the learning environment, thereby accompanying students to find the best solutions in each situation.

+ The Medical Unit of the DSA, located across UEH’s campuses, directly receives students, conducts medical examinations, provides medicines, and cooperates with healthcare institutions to deliver medical treatment and reproductive and sexual health counselling for students.

At the same time, UEH focuses on education and raising awareness. Together with the DSA, the Youth Union and Student Association, through the “Chuyện To Nhỏ” Club (operating in the field of reproductive health, psychology, and life skills), take responsibility for communication and event organization with the goal of supporting and educating students on reproductive and sexual health knowledge.

In 2024, the DSA and the “Chuyện To Nhỏ” Club implemented many specialized and free programs and activities for students to raise awareness and understanding of reproductive and sexual health at UEH, to prevent sexual harassment and sexual violence inside and outside the campus, and to promote gender equality and respect in relationships.

Seminar “The Science of Love” UEH students The seminar focused on sexual education and the psychology of love, helping students understand the scientific aspects of emotions, sexual physiology, and reproductive health. Through interactive games, group discussions, and expert consultations, students were guided on safe contraception methods, respecting personal boundaries, and fostering healthy, positive relationships.Unnamed

Gender Sensitivity: Behavior in University Settings UEH students The program provided knowledge about gender, aiming to build a civilized, equitable, and inclusive community that respects diversity. The event featured experts on Gender, Diversity, and Inclusion, including facilitators from the ICS Center (an organization advocating for LGBTQI+ rights). The workshop addressed practical challenges such as gender bias in daily communication and invisible barriers in recruitment. In addition, it introduced UEH’s specific policies and procedures for handling inappropriate behaviours, ensuring that all individuals are protected from harassment and discrimination.Unnamed (1)

Talkshow: CHẠM UEH students The talkshow: CHẠM organized by the “Chuyện To Nhỏ” Club under the UEH Youth Union – Student Association was an activity focused on reproductive health, gender, and sexual safety education for students. The content included counselling on the use of contraceptive methods, personal hygiene care, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, and psychological support for unintended pregnancies. In addition, the club collaborated with local medical centers to organize free medical check-ups, counselling sessions, and distribution of sexual health education materials.Unnamed (2)

  • Students gained knowledge, increased awareness, and received direct answers to questions and concerns related to sexual safety and reproductive health among young adults.
  • Participants also had access to healthcare services, including medical examinations and individual counselling.

In 2024, the DSA provided medical examinations and counseling services related to reproductive and sexual health issues, including menstrual disorders, contraception counseling, and sexually transmitted diseases. Among the cases, 27 students were referred to specialized hospitals (Từ Dũ Hospital and Phương Đông Clinic) for further examination, while 65 students received medication and advice on safe practices.

UEH distributed 11 editions of its E-news (7,800 email opens) and organized 4 thematic programs (seminars and talk shows) with more than 1,000 student participants. Through diverse formats such as workshops, talk shows, health check-up programs, and student clubs, UEH has fostered an open, inclusive, and safe environment where students can discuss sensitive issues, receive guidance, and protect their health and dignity. Survey results showed that 92% of participants improved their understanding of reproductive and sexual health, 87% became aware of official support channels, and 85% reported higher confidence in handling harassment-related situations. Notably, the number of reported harassment cases in 2024 decreased by 33% compared to 2023.

Compared with the previous year, UEH’s activities in 2024 have standardized the procedures for student psychological counseling and support, ensuring that learners have systematic, safe, and confidential access to mental health and reproductive health services. Moreover, UEH expanded its preventive education initiatives by integrating gender, equality, sexual safety, and reproductive health elements into student-focused programs, fostering a more open and practical dialogue space.

Overall, through the combined system of medical–psychological services and educational communication, UEH has clearly demonstrated its commitment to providing free reproductive and sexual health services to students. The 2024 programs also emphasized the importance of mental health care and support for victims of harassment, marking a shift from merely raising awareness to building a sustainable support system. This reflects UEH’s ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive, equitable, and safe learning environment for all students.
