University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) affirms its open and entirely free-access policy for all events, training programs, research activities, communication initiatives, and knowledge transfer projects dedicated to farmers and local food producers. This policy is applied consistently to ensure that all beneficiaries — from smallholder farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses to local authorities — can access knowledge and technology without any financial barriers. The commitment to a “no-fee, no-restriction” principle serves as a cornerstone for promoting equitable access to educational resources, while strengthening trust and long-term collaboration with local communities.

Under this policy framework, UEH organizes a wide range of knowledge-sharing and networking events for farmers and food producers. These activities focus on three main areas: (1) Field-based initiatives that support the development of sustainable rural communities; (2) Training, research, and communication programs aimed at raising awareness of sustainable agriculture and environmental protection; and (3) Field surveys and multi-stakeholder discussions to enhance adaptive capacity in response to climate change.

Through these initiatives, UEH acts as a bridge connecting farmers, cooperatives, local authorities, and researchers, facilitating the exchange of experiences, technology sharing, and discussion of innovative solutions for green, efficient, and sustainable agricultural development. These events not only foster multidimensional dialogue but also contribute to building a knowledge cooperation network that supports the goal of ensuring national food security.

06 environmental awareness campaigns on environmental protection and climate change, engaging 2,350 residents.

09 communes directly benefited, with nearly 3,000 farming households participating in on-site interactions.

Nearly 600 students, divided into 20 volunteer teams, took part in spreading knowledge throughout the local areas, with each commune receiving support from 1–2 teams.

The total budget for all knowledge transfer and community support activities reached approximately 1.75 billion VND.

100% free of charge for farmers and local producers — no fees were collected from any beneficiary.

The “Planting Forests to Welcome the Cranes” campaign attracted over 100 participants, including lecturers, VNP graduate students, UEH students, and local farmers. Together, they planted over 1,000 native trees to help restore the natural ecosystem of the Dong Thap Muoi wetland region.

08 research studies and articles focusing on agricultural policies and livelihoods in the Mekong Delta region.

Surveys and interviews were conducted with hundreds of farmers and cooperative representatives across key areas of the Mekong Delta.

Established a field-based feedback channel connecting farmers, experts, enterprises, and policymakers, supporting livelihood solutions and enhancing adaptive capacity to environmental challenges and climate change.

In 2023, UEH’s activities primarily focused on organizing thematic workshops that connected key stakeholders — including local authorities, cooperatives, scientists, and farmers — to exchange knowledge and develop specific sustainable development solutions for local areas. An example of this was the Workshop on Sustainable Orange Cultivation held in Vinh Long Province.

The year 2024 marked a major transition from predominantly academic and research-oriented activities to highly practical, scalable initiatives that are directly connected to local communities. These efforts more effectively address SDG 2.5.2, which emphasizes organizing events for knowledge sharing and technology transfer to farmers and local food producers. The level of impact and the scale of beneficiaries have also expanded significantly, as demonstrated by clearer data on projects, the number of beneficiaries, and investment figures compared to the previous year.

UEH further strengthened its engagement through fieldwork activities, infrastructure development, and rural improvement projects carried out alongside residents. Student volunteer campaigns, in collaboration with local communities, created a direct network for practical knowledge transfer through initiatives such as “Lighting Up Rural Roads”, road concreting projects, green livelihood models, and environmental improvement programs.

In addition, communication campaigns and training sessions on sustainable agriculture and environmental protection were more widely organized, reaching thousands of residents and being continuously maintained through UEH’s volunteer student teams.
