1. Description of the Community Engagement Program

The University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) actively implements educational and outreach programs on land management for sustainable tourism. These initiatives are designed to provide educational programmes and public awareness activities for local or national communities about promoting effective and sustainable land-use practices in tourism development.

2. Core Content and Target Groups

+ Content: The program focuses on delivering knowledge and transferring sustainable land management models applicable to tourism development. Activities include workshops and training sessions on topics such as developing eco-tourism, community-based tourism, and sustainable business models that minimize the land-use impacts of tourism activities.

+ Target Groups: The program primarily engages local communities (tourism business households, tourism cooperatives, and local authorities) as well as national communities.

3. Internal Commitment and Supporting Policies (Enhancing the Implementation of Regulation No. 2059)

These activities are part of the pilot commitment that has been officially issued. Therefore, UEH aims to strengthen the implementation of the provisions added to the Regulations Regarding Green Campus Practice (Decision No. 2059/QĐ-ĐHKT-CSVC):

Pilot policy and directive for units to develop plans and direct actions on Sustainable Land Management for Tourism.
Assigned units are responsible for:

+ Reviewing and assessing current land use status, identifying areas with potential for sustainable tourism development.

+ Developing plans and land management models aligned with the objectives of conservation, ecological restoration, and green tourism development.

+ Collaborating with governmental agencies, enterprises, and local communities to ensure effective and appropriate land use.

+ Integrating education and communication activities to raise awareness of sustainable land management and tourism practices.

+ Reporting results periodically, proposing solutions, and expanding models consistent with UEH’s sustainable development orientation.
