In 2025, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) continued to organise direct community programmes that helped poor households, policy-beneficiary families and rural residents access essential services: lighting, roads, safe water, housing, nutrition, sanitation and health care. The 2025 Economic Student Volunteer Campaign mobilised over VND 2 billion. In Vinh Long alone, it illuminated 10,850 metres of rural roads with 341 lights, improved 2,000 metres of roads, installed a school water-filtration unit and repaired a gratitude house. The UEH Trade Union allocated over VND 700 million to assist disadvantaged households and storm-affected residents with damaged homes and assets. UEH Mekong’s Youth Union and Student Association provided meals and helped replace temporary, unsafe housing in Vinh Long.
UEH delivers assistance in two complementary forms. Direct intervention is central: the university, Trade Union, Youth Union, Student Association and UEH Mekong mobilise funding and work alongside residents on lighting, roads, water filters, home repairs, essentials and health services. In parallel, UEH provides essential services to learners, including health insurance, campus medical stations, accommodation guidance for new students and emergency aid to disaster-affected students.
The 2025 flagship was the Economic Student Volunteer Campaign in Vinh Long. Over 20 days in July, UEH volunteers worked in Nhon Phu, Tan Long Hoi and Cai Nhum communes, completing 13 major works: eight “Lighting Rural Roads” projects, rural transport routes, a covered kindergarten playground, a primary-school water-filtration system and repairs to a gratitude house. The programme also distributed 85 scholarships, 82 gifts to policy-beneficiary families and 1,500 notebooks to schoolchildren.

These examples confirm that UEH directly organizes programs to help communities access electricity, roads, clean water, housing, nutrition, sanitation, and healthcare, aiming to ensure that no one is left behind.
Compared to 2024, UEH’s programs to help the community access basic services in 2025 will continue to be organized directly and free of charge for beneficiaries, and will expand in terms of resources, scope, and types of services. Specifically:
Expand resources and scale:
+ The total resources mobilized for volunteer campaigns reached over 3.1 billion VND (Economics Student Volunteer Campaign over 2 billion VND, Spring Volunteer Campaign over 1.14 billion VND); the Vinh Long front alone reached 1.04 billion VND, equivalent to the entire first phase in 2024 (1.048 billion VND).
+ The Spring Volunteer Campaign involved 32 teams with approximately 2,200 volunteers; more than 20 programs and activities directly supporting the community.
Maintain and enhance basic services:
+ Electricity: 8 “Lighting up rural roads” projects with 341 streetlights on 10,850 m of road (in 2024: 349 lamp posts).
+ Road infrastructure: 4 rural road projects, with a total length of 2,000 m.
+ New projects for 2025: water filters for schools, repairing houses for needy families, participating in eliminating temporary housing and providing meals for the needy in Vinh Long province.
Expand the range of participants:
+ The UEH Trade Union made a significant contribution, donating over 700 million VND to support disadvantaged households and people in flood-affected areas in repairing their homes and property.
+ For students, 98.79% participate in health insurance, and over 2,100 new students receive assistance in finding accommodation upon enrollment.
Therefore, it can be seen that UEH is not only a place for training but also a hub connecting resources, bringing electricity, roads, clean water, housing, and healthcare to disadvantaged communities, contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 1 – Eradicating Poverty.
