MORE THAN 1000 STUDENTS GRANTED CERTIFICATES THROUGH FREE SOFT SKILLS AND ENGLISH CLASSES

In an effort to support students, especially those from difficult backgrounds, the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) successfully organized a series of supplementary learning activities for soft skills and improving English proficiency. Including 25 soft skills classes and 12 free language forums, the program has granted certificates to over 1000 students, providing them with the opportunity to develop themselves and enhance their future learning and job prospects.

Enhancing Soft Skills – An Essential Asset for Students

Soft skills are one of the crucial skills in the 4.0 industrial era. With 25 soft skills classes, the Student Support and Care Department has implemented training programs covering skills such as communication, leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork. These are essential skills for students to adapt to a professional working environment.

Soft skills classes not only help students enhance their confidence in communication but also assist them in managing emotions, developing critical thinking, and effective working skills. In particular, the program not only involves instructors but also invites experts from top companies and enterprises, helping students gain practical insights and understand the current standards that employers set.

The program has awarded certificates to 1,043 students who completed courses in 2023. The certificate that students receive is not only evidence of course completion but also an important stepping stone for them to build an impressive personal profile in the eyes of employers.

Promoting English Language Learning through Language Discussion Sessions

English is an important language that helps Vietnamese students expand their opportunities for study and employment in the international arena. Recognizing this, UEH has organized a series of 12 language discussion sessions as part of the UEH English Zone project, with the participation of experienced lecturers and language experts. In these discussion sessions, students not only exchange and practice their English communication skills but also share effective learning methods and ways to improve their foreign language proficiency.

The discussion sessions are designed to be flexible in both in-person and online formats to encourage students to speak English with confidence and to provide them with a deeper understanding of the importance of this language in a globalized environment. Organized in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Languages at UEH and the Student Care and Support Office, accessing these free English discussion sessions is a meaningful opportunity for students to confidently integrate into the world.

With the results achieved, UEH continuously strives to expand the range of support, not only through skill and language courses but also by creating opportunities for students to access other forms of support comprehensively. In the coming time, UEH will continue to develop student support programs, expand the scale of soft skills classes as well as language discussion sessions. In addition, the school will also collaborate with organizations and businesses to introduce more topics and new programs, helping students have more options for learning and personal development.

Diverse forms of support for students

In addition to free classes, UEH also supports the issuance of 2,295 loan documents for students who register through the electronic transaction portal and wish to borrow funds from the Policy Bank. They also provide support for dormitories for students in difficult circumstances, helping them save on living expenses while ensuring security and convenience. This arrangement also facilitates easy collaboration and learning with peers when staying together in the dormitory. In 2023, UEH assisted 56 students in difficult circumstances to find a shared home in the dormitory. Additionally, UEH has waived/reduced the dormitory fee by 300,000 VND/student/month for students from policy beneficiary groups. Furthermore, UEH subsidizes the UEH Shuttle bus service, charging only 5,000 VND/student/ride. There were 53,526 registrations for the UEH Shuttle bus service in 2023.

With a comprehensive support policy, UEH hopes this will help students excel in their studies and become global citizens.
