The University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) implements numerous training programs, conferences and community education initiatives aimed at raising awareness and enhancing local capacity for effective water stewardship.
1. Project “Gender Integration into Water Conservancy Works and Disaster Prevention in the Context of Climate Change in Cu Lao Dung District, Soc Trang (GS4Infra)”
In 2024, UEH collaborated with the local government of Cu Lao Dung District and regional research institutions to hold a series of free training workshops for commune officials, Women’s Union members, and local residents. The program focused on agricultural water management methodologies, operation of irrigation systems, salinity intrusion response, and integration of gender factors into disaster risk management. Through practical field training and experience-sharing workshops, UEH helped the community enhance its skills in managing and utilizing water efficiently, contributing directly to water security and sustainable livelihoods for the Mekong Delta population.
Free program, led by UEH in coordination with local government
2. Program “Training Community on Sustainable Finance and Water Resource Management” – UEH Sustainable Finance Institute
In addition to research, the Sustainable Finance Institute (SFI – UEH) has conducted fee-based courses and conferences targeting enterprises, social organizations, and students on topics such as green finance, clean water investment and water resource management linked to sustainable development. The training sessions provided guidance on assessing cost-benefits in water supply projects, planning for smart irrigation systems, and applying green finance tools for water-saving projects. This initiative not only provides professional expertise but also enhances the capacity of the community and the private sector in achieving sustainable water stewardship.
Fee-based program, organized annually
Through these activities, UEH serves not only as a knowledge center providing free and fee-based community education programs on good and effective water stewardship, but also clearly demonstrates its commitment to supporting sustainable development goals, particularly SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation.
