The University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City ensures equal learning opportunities, a positive and inclusive environment, and comprehensive support for female students throughout their entire educational journey, beginning from the first day of enrollment. The university applies a gender-neutral and transparent admissions policy, officially issued under the Admission Regulations (attached to Decision No. 584/QĐ-ĐHKT-ĐT dated February 16, 2024, by the President of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City), and the annually published enrollment plan for admitted candidates, making all processes transparent, public, and free of gender discrimination on the Admissions Portal. This policy is the fundamental legal framework for UEH to implement practical activities, ensuring gender equality throughout the learning process in student life at UEH. 

The “step-by-step” guidance for enrollment is concretized through the UEH Admission Regulations and the enrollment plan designed to ensure fair, transparent, and gender-neutral admission for all accepted candidates. The process is public, non-discriminatory, and places no restriction on the number of female students admitted through the official admission portal.

UEH has also developed the Online Enrollment System (https://nhaphoc.ueh.edu.vn/), which provides comprehensive information and detailed guidance before, during, and after enrollment. The university publicly announces and updates enrollment procedures and instructions on the Admission Portal for all intakes, including:

Building on this foundation, UEH has implemented a series of gender-sensitive orientation and empowerment programs accompanying new female students from admission through their academic experience. Starting with the “Support to School” campaign, UEH Online Accommodation (https://nhatroueh.com/) for safe and affordable accommodation. Besides, the university also organized activities, including: Welcome Week, Campus Tour (exploring university facilities), sharing workshops, welcome programs for new students of each faculty; especially “Noi Vong Tay Lon 2024” – Soar higher, shine brighter Festival, which give opportunities for new students to rapidly integrate into the university environment. These initiatives not only facilitate smooth enrollment but also secure comfortable accommodations for female students, foster their adaptation, and encourage confidence and gender equality in learning. 

Throughout their studies, UEH continues to accompany female students through academic advising, scholarships, extracurricular engagement, volunteering activities, gender equality seminars, and participation in STEM and research projects, thereby promoting equal opportunities and women’s participation in all academic and social spheres.

Such continuous efforts enable female students to develop holistically in an equitable, inclusive, and empowering learning environment, demonstrating UEH’s long-term commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment in higher education, aligned with SDG 5: Gender Equality.

Support to School 2024 – Peak Beyond  New students of cohort 50, UEH  Part of the “Support to School” campaign, UEH published a freshmen handbook, organized a series of enrollment consultation sessions “Design Your Future From Day One,” Campus Tour including UEH Virtual Tour 360°, and booths for scholarships, dormitories, study loans, and uniforms on enrollment day.

The “Support to School 2024 – Peak Beyond” campaign made a strong impression in welcoming cohort 50 freshmen, supporting integration into university life, and promoting gender equality and empowerment. Volunteer teams, led actively by female students, helped disseminate the image of dynamic, independent, and resilient female students.

The cultural festival to welcome new students NOVA 2024 left a deep impression within the UEH student community, themed “Soar higher, shine brighter,” inspiring confidence, proactive spirit, and aspiration among freshmen. More than 8,000 freshmen were welcomed in a dynamic, friendly, and equitable integration space, encouraging self-expression, equal access to learning opportunities, and development. The program attracted a large number of UEH students, creating an equitable and inclusive space where every student, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to demonstrate their talents and confidence.

The CTD Scholars – Student Awards 2024 attracted wide student engagement, featuring many highly applied and innovative projects with a high proportion of female awardees. These activities promote the spirit of scientific research, spread academic values, and create a fair, comprehensive environment for student development, inspiring academic pursuit and sustainable growth university-wide.
Equal Voice 2024 Competition  UEH students  The Equal Voice 2024 Competition, held from May 18 to August 15, 2024, consisted of three stages.

  • Round 1 featured a multiple-choice test assessing participants’ knowledge of gender equality.
  • In Round 2, teams developed communication projects aimed at promoting and spreading messages of gender equality and empowerment.
  • The Final Round concluded with two parts: “Challenge”, where the top teams competed to identify the two most outstanding ones; and “Shine”, where finalists addressed real-life case studies related to gender equality.

The final results were evaluated based on content quality, argumentation, and the teams’ ability to effectively deliver gender equality messages.

The program conveyed key messages to UEH students focusing on themes related to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It promoted the core values of gender equality and women’s empowerment, while also encouraging students to challenge and overcome gender stereotypes and discrimination in both their academic environment and daily life.
2024 Economics Student Volunteer Campaign: UEH Youth Joining the “Year of Youth Volunteers” UEH students The “Economics Student Volunteer Campaign 2024” consisted of two phases: Green Summer (June 27 – July 26, 2024) and Full Moon Festival (September 14 – 15), which were implemented across various communes in Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh Long Province, and Ben Tre Province. The campaign mobilized 47 volunteer teams with 2,100 student participants, contributing a total value of over 4 billion VND to community development initiatives.

By implementing a comprehensive, transparent, and gender-responsive admissions framework, UEH not only measures the proportion of female students at entry but also ensures continued empowerment and inclusion through structured support systems. At the enrollment stage and post-enrollment period in 2024, UEH implemented a procedural guidance week, launched the “Support to School” campaign, and introduced the platform “UEH accommodation” to help new students find safe and comfortable accommodation. The university also organized faculty/institute-specific welcome events, university-wide festivals, gender equality seminars, and activities to encourage STEM participation, especially for female students.
