3.3.3. Shared sports facilities

With the goal of promoting sportsmanship and strengthening community engagement, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has actively expanded the sharing of its sports facilities with partners, social organizations, and local residents. This initiative not only provides a modern and high-quality environment for health improvement, but also demonstrates UEH’s long-term commitment to building a healthy, active, and sustainable community lifestyle, aligned with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.

Promoting Access to Physical Well-being and Community Connection

UEH’s Sports and Fitness Complexes have become familiar and inclusive venues for numerous organizations and community groups to conduct physical training and recreational activities. With standardized sports fields, modern equipment, and a variety of disciplines—including football, basketball, badminton, and community fitness—these facilities offer safe, professional, and welcoming spaces for all participants.

Compared with 2023, UEH’s initiatives in 2024 demonstrated expanded scale, diversity, and outreach. The university extended access beyond alumni and partners to include students from multiple universities across Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta region, forming a broader inter-campus sports network.

The frequency and diversity of sports activities also increased, including badminton, football, martial arts, and team-based competitions, held regularly at Nguyen Van Linh Campus, Nguyen Tri Phuong Campus, and UEH Mekong Campus (Vinh Long).

By maintaining a policy of free access for other institutions and the community, UEH exemplifies a strong institutional commitment to equitable access to health resources, inclusive community well-being, and sustainable sports participation.

The continued success of UEH Golf Tournament – Swing for Future 2024 further highlights UEH’s leadership in integrating sports, health, and social responsibility, contributing VND 850 million to scholarships and expanding civic partnerships.

Outcomes and Community Value

Through the sharing of sports infrastructure, UEH not only enhances public health and physical fitness, but also strengthens social connection, inclusiveness, and community vitality. These efforts act as a bridge linking the university with partners and local citizens, cultivating a sustainable community culture of health, collaboration, and mutual growth, fully aligned with UEH’s human-centered development orientation and the objectives of SDG 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
