In alignment with its sustainable development orientation, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) identifies health and well-being as a fundamental pillar alongside education and research. To enhance quality of life and promote sustainable health systems, UEH not only prioritizes the internal health care of its students and staff but also establishes extensive collaborative networks with health organizations at the local, national, and international levels to implement tangible, impactful initiatives.

At the local level, UEH collaborates with Phuong Dong International Eye Center to provide periodic eye screening programs for university staff and students, ensuring access to preventive health care. UEH also partners with the Tay Nguyen Regional General Hospital and local health stations in Vinh Long Province to organize various community health outreach activities, contributing to improved public health and community well-being.

At the national level, UEH conducts annual voluntary blood donation campaigns, contributing over 1,500 units of blood in 2024 to support national health services. The university also organizes workshops on health insurance awareness, achieving a 98.75% participation rate among students in the national health insurance system—supporting the goal of universal health coverage.

At the global level, UEH co-organized the International Workshop on Mental Health Awareness and Care Capacity Building (September 2024) in partnership with the Australian National University (ANU). This initiative brought global health knowledge and best practices in mental health care to UEH students and faculty, fostering international dialogue on mental well-being. In parallel, the Health and Agricultural Policy Research Institute (HAPRI) continues to serve as UEH’s key platform for international cooperation in health economics and public health research, engaging in interdisciplinary projects and evidence-based policy development.

UEH also integrates health and well-being into its education and research missions through partnerships with health institutions across all three levels—local, national, and global. Beyond community initiatives, the university officially launched the Hospital Management Program, developed in close collaboration with hospitals and health organizations to ensure the curriculum aligns with practical healthcare needs and social demand. A notable example is the strategic cooperation agreement with Hung Vuong Hospital, which includes joint curriculum design, student internships, and specialized training in health economics and hospital management.

In terms of research, Health and Agricultural Policy Research Institute (HAPRI) serves as the central unit leading interdisciplinary studies on public health, healthcare systems, and the interconnection between agriculture and health. Collaborating with domestic and international health partners, HAPRI generates evidence-based policy recommendations that contribute to strengthening sustainable and equitable healthcare systems.

Through these continuous initiatives and partnerships, UEH demonstrates its strong commitment not only to improving internal health and well-being but also to advancing health education, applied research, and community engagement—actively contributing to a sustainable healthcare system.
