1. Policy Description

The University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has introduced pilot policies aimed at supporting the protection of species listed in the IUCN Red List and the National Conservation Categories.

Rather than conducting direct ecological monitoring, UEH’s approach focuses on leveraging its institutional strengths in academic research, policy development, and human resource capacity building to contribute to biodiversity conservation and the protection of endangered species.

Through evidence-based research, awareness-raising activities, and policy recommendations, UEH seeks to foster sustainable solutions that integrate economic, social, and environmental dimensions in biodiversity management and conservation practices.

2. Internal Commitment and Supporting Regulations (Pilot Integration into Regulation No. 2059)

To institutionalize and ensure the implementation of this policy, UEH has incorporated additional pilot provisions into its Green University Regulation (Decision No. 2059/QD-ĐHKT-CSVC) as follows:

Addition of Clause 17 to Article 6: “To pilot and guide units in supporting the protection of species listed in the IUCN Red List and the National Conservation Categories through academic activities, research initiatives, and human resource development programs aligned with the University’s strengths.”

Addition of Clause 15 to Article 7: “Based on the directive in Clause 17, Article 6 of this Regulation, assigned units are responsible for:

+ Encouraging and supporting research and student-led projects that promote awareness, develop policy and economic solutions, or advance communication related to biodiversity conservation and endangered species protection.

+ Integrating biodiversity and conservation topics into relevant courses, academic seminars, and specialized workshops.

+ Maintaining documentation and evidence of these activities and submitting periodic reports to the UEH Green Campus Project Management Board.”
