15.2.3. Maintain and extend current ecosystems’ biodiversity
Work directly to maintain and extend existing ecosystems and their biodiversity, of both plants and animals, especially ecosystems under threat
Policy and Activity Description
The University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) is committed to implementing activities that maintain and expand the existing ecosystem while ensuring biodiversity within the campus. These activities include protecting and enhancing green spaces in accordance with current regulations, as well as developing pilot policies to safeguard animals and ecosystems under threat.
- Internal Commitment and Supporting Policy (Implementation and Addition to Regulation No. 2059)
UEH’s policy is demonstrated through the strict enforcement of existing provisions and the pilot addition of new clauses to the Green University Regulation (Decision No. 2059/QĐ-ĐHKT-CSVC): - a) Implementation of Existing Provisions:
- Strengthen the implementation of Article 5, Clause 6: Enforce the mandatory regulation on “Protection and care of greenery within campus areas” to ensure the preservation of existing vegetation and ecosystems.
- Strengthen the implementation of Article 5, Clause 7: Encourage the “Increase of greenery at work desks and offices,” contributing to the expansion of plant biodiversity within UEH facilities.
- b) Pilot Addition of New Provisions:
- Pilot Addition to Article 13: Add Clause 10 to Article 13: Introduce a pilot directive guiding units to develop plans and take direct actions to maintain and expand biodiversity within the campus, including both flora and fauna, particularly for ecosystems that may be under threat, assigned units are responsible for:
– Developing specific action plans to protect native animal species (if any) within the campus and to expand biodiversity zones.
– Establishing monitoring records and submitting periodic reports on the biodiversity status of their respective facilities to the UEH Green Campus Coordination Board.

| 1 | “Forest Planting for the Arrival of Cranes” Activity at Tràm Chim National Park | Ecological Restoration; Community Education | The Vietnam–Netherlands Master’s Program, in collaboration with UEH, organized an activity to plant over 1,000 native trees in the Tram Chim Wetland—an area previously degraded by climate change and human exploitation. The aim was to restore the wetland ecosystem, improve habitats for rare species such as the Sarus Crane, and raise community awareness about biodiversity conservation. |
