University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) consistently upholds its responsibility toward the sustainable development of future generations, particularly supporting students who face difficulties in accessing essential needs such as food, thereby ensuring food security for all students. UEH has established official policies and annual programs to support students’ access to food through its canteen system, dormitories, scholarship programs, volunteer campaigns, and communication activities that raise awareness about food security.

UEH has also implemented the “Green Campus Food Policy”, which includes an organic and sustainable canteen system, public microwaves, water purifiers, and automatic beverage/coffee vending machines. These facilities ensure that students have access to safe, diverse, and affordable food options.

In 2024, UEH, in collaboration with the UEH Youth Union – Student Association, launched several activities and programs to ensure student food security. Specifically, more than 1,500 UEH students (approximately 10% of the total full-time student body) received direct support in the form of food, essential goods, or free/low-cost meals through initiatives such as Spring Volunteer Campaign, Dormitory Programs, and the Green Summer Volunteer Campaign. In addition, about 20% of UEH students regularly use the university canteen, which provides food that meets the Vietnam Ministry of Health’s food safety and hygiene standards and undergoes annual inspections. The “Green Monday” communication campaign has also played a vital role in raising awareness among students, staff, and the community about food security and reducing food waste.

By maintaining and expanding these policies annually, UEH reaffirms its long-term commitment to supporting students in overcoming food insecurity, thereby promoting sustainable development and equality in education.
