The University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has consistently pioneered in disseminating university knowledge to communities, aligned with the University’s overall strategic directions for 2024 (https://www.ueh.edu.vn/tin-tuc/nhung-dinh-huong-chien-luoc-cua-dai-hoc-kinh-te-thanh-pho-ho-chi-minh-ueh-tu-nay-den-2030_71258), through hundreds of education, training, and consulting programs conducted off-campus on a programmed basis, targeting students, citizens, enterprises, local governments, and vulnerable groups across the country. These activities demonstrate UEH’s strong commitment to the mission “For the sustainable development of communities,” while contributing to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals including SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
The core focus of off-campus teaching and training programs that UEH has implemented includes:
(1) Sustainable Career Counseling Campaign Series
UEH collaborates with nearly 30 provinces and cities nationwide to implement career counseling and guidance activities at hundreds of secondary education institutions, reaching tens of thousands of students and parents annually. The program provides knowledge on career selection aligned with sustainable development trends, while inspiring lifelong learning, nurturing innovation, and fostering global citizenship among the younger generation.
(2) International Exchange and Learning Programs Outside Campus
International exchange activities enable domestic and international students to experience practical learning, develop global competencies, sustainable thinking, and intercultural understanding, contributing to the promotion of internationalized education aligned with SDGs.
(3) Community Activities and Local Teaching
UEH organizes numerous annual programs such as “UEHers’ Journey to Farmers,” “Free Teaching in Disadvantaged Areas,” “Green School,” and “Financial Literacy for Youth” in Can Tho, An Giang, Nha Trang, and Ca Mau. These programs focus on disseminating knowledge about financial literacy, green economy, sustainable entrepreneurship, and environmental education, helping local residents and youth access to education and practical knowledge, enhancing autonomy and sustainable development thinking.
(4) Training, Capacity Building, and Consulting Program Series for Enterprises and Local Governments
UEH implements short-term training courses on digital transformation, public administration, financial management, and sustainable development in localities such as An Giang, Ca Mau, Dak Lak, Kon Tum, contributing to the dissemination of the “Community-Serving University” model, connecting academic knowledge with local management and operational practices.
Through these programs, UEH has significantly expanded the reach of university education beyond campus, enabling hundreds of thousands of citizens and students nationwide to access education and knowledge, develop vocational training skills, and enhance awareness of sustainable development. This “co-creating knowledge with communities” model operates across schools/faculties/institutes, mobilizing UEH lecturers, students, and domestic and international partners, creating measurable social impact: large scale of beneficiaries, expanded geographic coverage, enhanced digital and governance capacity, and widespread SDG awareness. This exemplifies how a comprehensive, sustainable multidisciplinary university contributes substantially to the goal of “Leaving no one behind in access to quality education.”
