Guided by its orientation as a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) maintains current collaborations with local, national and global health institutions to improve health and well-being outcomes. These collaborations take the form of medical examination, screening and disease prevention activities; training and capacity building for healthcare management personnel; and interdisciplinary research that improves access to healthcare services.

In 2025, these activities were carried out in Ho Chi Minh City and at UEH Mekong (Vinh Long), with notable outcomes: more than 200 faculty and staff members and nearly 1,500 students and learners received free eye examinations and eye health consultations; 169 donors gave 237 units of blood at the 52nd Voluntary Blood Donation Festival, and more than 200 people took part in the second blood donation drive at UEH Mekong; more than 300 UEH Mekong students were equipped with stress management skills; nearly 100 students received consultation on their health insurance benefits; and 20 out of 20 healthcare managers completed the training course on economic and financial management.

  • Local collaboration: UEH partnered with Phuong Dong International Eye Center to provide free eye examinations, screening and consultations for faculty, staff and students; worked with the Ho Chi Minh City Humanitarian Blood Donation Center to organize the Voluntary Blood Donation Festival; signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Hung Vuong Hospital (April 3, 2025) on training, health economics research, hospital management and community projects; and collaborated with Ho Chi Minh City Social Security to inform students about their health insurance benefits for medical examination and treatment.
  • National collaboration: UEH partnered with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City – a medical training and healthcare institution under the Ministry of Health – and Ho Chi Minh City Eye Hospital to deliver Cohort 7 of the training program “Economic and Financial Management for the Health Sector” for healthcare leaders and managers. UEH also collaborated with Military Hospital 175 (under the Ministry of National Defence) and other healthcare providers on the periodic health check-up program for its faculty and staff. In addition, the University maintains cooperative relationships and professional coordination mechanisms with hospitals across the national health system.
  • Global collaboration: In 2025, UEH continued to expand academic and research cooperation with partners working in economics, management and healthcare. From October 13 to 18, 2025, UEH worked with the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (ESHPM), Erasmus University Rotterdam (the Netherlands), and agreed on directions for developing a joint master’s program in Health Economics and Management, academic exchanges, short-term training and joint research. In addition, a researcher affiliated with the UEH School of International Business – Marketing co-authored a study with experts from Geneva University Hospitals and Swiss research institutions on socioeconomic inequalities in breast cancer screening, published in Volume 34, Issue 3 (May 2025) of the European Journal of Cancer Prevention. As an interdisciplinary research output involving UEH and international health institutions, the study provides scientific evidence to improve equity in healthcare.

Alongside its direct healthcare programs, UEH continues to link the health sector with its training and interdisciplinary research, particularly in developing human resources for hospital management, health economics and healthcare management. Through these collaborations, UEH not only helps learners, faculty and staff access healthcare services but also facilitates knowledge transfer, strengthens the capacity of health institutions, and promotes community well-being.

2025 Results and Key Highlights Compared with 2024

Compared with 2024, UEH’s collaborations with health institutions in 2025 stand out in three respects:

  • Collaboration at all three levels: At the local level, UEH signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Hung Vuong Hospital (April 2025) and maintained its collaborations with Phuong Dong International Eye Center and the Ho Chi Minh City Humanitarian Blood Donation Center. At the national level, UEH continued to train managers for the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City through Cohort 7 (since 2022, UEH has delivered 07 specialized training courses for the health sector with more than 120 managers and doctors; Cohort 8 opened in September 2025) and collaborated with Military Hospital 175 on health care for its faculty and staff. At the global level, UEH published joint research with Geneva University Hospitals (Switzerland) on breast cancer screening and established a new connection with ESHPM (the Netherlands) in health economics and healthcare management.
  • Scale of beneficiaries: The number of students and learners receiving eye examinations rose to nearly 1,500 (2024: nearly 1,000); the number of students receiving consultation on health insurance benefits reached nearly 100 (2024: 80). Activities were expanded at UEH Mekong (Vinh Long), with voluntary blood donation and mental health care for both students and faculty and staff.
  • Depth of collaboration: Collaboration went beyond direct medical examination and health care to encompass training and research: the agreement with Hung Vuong Hospital opened new directions in health economics and hospital management research; all 20 participants of Cohort 7 completed the course, 11 of whom were graded Excellent; and the work with ESHPM set the direction for an international joint master’s program in Health Economics and Management.

With its network of collaborations with local, national and global health institutions, UEH in 2025 continued to expand access to physical and mental healthcare services for students, faculty and staff in Ho Chi Minh City and at UEH Mekong, while leveraging its strengths in economics and management to build the capacity of health institutions, making a practical contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3) – Good Health and Well-being.
