Opening Ceremony Of 48th Course, Regular Undergraduate University: “I’m UEHer – I’m Ready For Next”

On behalf of UEH, there was the participation of: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong – Chairman of UEH University Council; Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh – UEH President; Dr. Bui Quang Hung – UEH Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet – Chairwoman of UEH Strategy and Policy Advisory Council; with the presence of UEH Board of Management of UEH member College, leaders of UEH-affilialted Schools, Departments, Divisions and Units. Especially is the presence of more than 7000 students of the 48^th Course of Regular Undergraduate Universities, UEH students of all UEH levels/UEH systems. The program is live-streamed on UEH’s official Fanpage, Regular Admissions Fanpage and Youtube UEH Channel.

The first lecture on the journey toward conquering knowledge

In terms of maintaining and continuing the traditional values ​​kept and continued, the annual opening ceremony of UEH always brings extremely meaningful values, inspiring learning for generations of UEH students.

That is the first lecture from UEH President – Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh, with his passionate sharing, that has spread the fire of enthusiasm to all UEH freshmen so that they can be prepared to pursue knowledge and to develop into their best versions in UEH University lecture hall. “Dear UEH freshmen and students, “I am who I choose to be” is the message that UEH has sent right from the moment you started your big dreams – University dream. I do believe that you have made the right choice. UEH is proud to be a prestigious public University in Vietnam, recognized by prestigious national and international ranking organizations. With a pioneering strategy of sustainable multidisciplinary development in the coming period, UEH is confident, that at this academic environment, UEH students will be empowered, given innovative and creative spaces for them to freely choose personal majors along with freedom to choose how to study, freedom to express yourself, freedom to shape your own future, freedom to be whoever you want to be. With personal stories on his journey of studying, setting up a career until achieving success, UEH’s distinguished guest, Mr. Johnathan Hanh Nguyen – Chairman of Inter-Pacific Group (IPPG), who used to be a member of American Boeing as well as being one contemporary entrepreneur, actively contributing to the economic and social development besides an influential Vietnamese to the young generation domestically and internationally, brought his inspirational story to UEH freshmen and students in the digital era with the theme “Always Ready For Next”. With the viewpoint that “Education orientation is the most profitable investment for the future of the country”, Mr. Johnathan Hanh Nguyen emphasizes that the current young generation needs to prepare a spirit that is always to be ready towards becoming global citizens with knowledge, skills, and attitude to comply with the law and ethics; Once the opportunity comes, it will always be ready to seize it. It is not only an opportunity created by UEH University but also an opportunity created by each UEH student.

Honoring and giving wings to University dreams

At this Opening ceremony, UEH University, in order to recognize the freshmen’ efforts with excellent achievements in each mode at UEH (HCMC), commends and awards certificates of merit, awards and scholarships with a total value of 40 million VND/person for 08 valedictorians; and awards certificates of merit, prizes and scholarships with a total value of 35 million VND/person to 05 runner-ups.

UEH will award 557 entrance scholarships with a total value of nearly 5.4 billion VND to freshmen who have achieved excellent results in the entrance exam for the 48^th Course – Formal General Undergraduate Course. In which: 37 excellent scholarships (20 million VND/person); 170 full scholarships (13.5 million VND/person); 350 partial scholarships (6.75 million VND/person). The scholarship is taken from the Giving to UEH Fund “For a more sustainable future” to recognize and to encourage the brightest UEH talents regarding their efforts to study and to contribute knowledge.

In addition, UEH awards 02 full scholarships (worth 13.5 million VND/person) to 2 students with difficult circumstances that UEH received information during the admission period. These are UEH’s efforts along with the mission of the Giving to UEH Program, to ensure that all disadvantaged students have the opportunity to access UEH’s comprehensive and modern education.

With practical meanings for future generations and the community, right at the ceremony, the Giving to UEH Fund received a donation from the Imex Pan Pacific Group Fund towards the Community in the amount of 500,000,000 VND. This contribution will join hands with UEH in carrying out the mission of spreading knowledge, contributing to improving the training quality and implementing social responsibility for a sustainable development community.

Highlights of innovation through technology and art

Along with traditional cultural features, this year’s UEH Opening Ceremony brought a very modern color with unique technological approaches for K48 Freshmen – the students in this century of digital resources: born and raised with explosive developments in technology.

The flag procession ceremony is led by the traditional flag of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) together UEH’s other achievements: Title of Labor Hero and First Class Independence Medal awarded by the President. Followed by flags from UEH School of Business; UEH School of Economics, Law and Government; UEH School of Technology and Design; UEH School of Foreign Languages; ISB International School of Business and UEH Vinh Long Branch currently having K48 students’ enrollment, all together creating an image of a sustainable multidisciplinary UEH University that have been ready to look towards the future. Next is the representatives of UEH student generations who have just graduated: Course 44 Alumni, Huynh Chi Minh, the valedictorian with excellent output in Business Administration; Graduation with Excellent in Business Accounting; winning the C Prize for Young Researcher 2021. What is more special, the appearance of Robot Future Inspiration guides and inspires UEH generations of students in the digital era to exploit technology in a smart and creative way for study and life services.

The highlight of this year’s modern Opening Ceremony comes from performances combining art and technology. It was the opening performance of Art Tech contemporary dance combined with Led Dance with the message “Unleash your creativity. Active future. Comprehensive value” to the new generation of Class 48 students in particular and all learners in general. It is a colorful TVC clip “Choose Your Best Version At UEH” with a different approach from UEH “Start with a destination” to help UEH freshmen identify the best version of himself/herself during your upcoming 4-year college journey. It is an art space with the dance performance “Be your color” by the Youth Union- Student Association showing 06 colors representing 06 different aspects that K48-ers will experience upon entering the UEH environment. Or the explosive performance of the famous young singer and songwriter – Andiez – who has been striving every day and become the best version of a free and passionate artist.

Performances of art – modern technology

Innovation, associated with design thinking and application of new technologies, is an important factor and a driving force for the recovery and growth of the economy in the next period. Therefore, by understanding generational thinking, developing in accordance with the market trends, especially focusing on the fields of technology application, smart design and innovation, UEH is ready to bring new experiences regarding the modern technology and artistic inspiration for generations of students in freely creating and discovering themselves during their study journey at UEH.

Hopefully, this UEH K48 generation of students, from this moment on, will identify the best version that you desire, through personal efforts and UEH values ​​brought by UEH University towards become a generation of students who know how to exploit technology with the purpose of serving learning and life, being prepared to lead the sustainable change “Unbounded creativity – Empowered future – Holistic values”.
